Buggy Situation!

I cannot believe that I am about to blog about this. I'm sucking up my pride and need to realize that yes, this does happen to everyone..right? I sure hope I can look past this in a week or so and laugh, but right now I'm really freaking out. During Sacrament meeting today Ce'Nedra was doing the usual, I'm tired and laying on Daddy thing. Out of the corner of my eye I can see Bill literally digging through Ce'Nedra's hair - like he was on a mission to find something. This wasn't the usual fatherly stroking of her hair. I look at him and do the, "what the?" look and he mouths, "I think she has lice!" So, here I am freaking out, in the middle of sacrament meeting and wanting to look, but not look because I know it will freak me out. I'm also worried the nice little couple behind us is seeing the horror on my face and figuring out what is going on. I tell Bill (in as hushed voice as possible, because the 2nd councelor in the bishopric is giving an awesome talk), to PLEASE stop digging through her hair until we get home. We get home and Bill looks at both of our girls heads..and YEP...there they are...little creepy crawling things. I'm feeling horrible - how did I not see that as I flat ironed and combed their hair for church!! Am I really that clueless? Bill saw me getting the "ibee geebee's"(sp) and said, "Don't worry Hon, I'll take care of it." So, a Sunday trip to Walgreen's later, Bill is downstairs putting treatment on Acacia's hair while big sister patiently waits her turn. I've started putting all their bedding through the wash with HOT water, as per instructions on Webmd.com. I'm so excited for this! I never had it as a kid nor did my family, so this is a first. Bill acted like it was a normal childhood thing, since he had it too. So, I guess I need to stop freaking out..right? Help me feel better. So, of course I'm posting a picture of my dear sweet husband taking care of our head lice problem. What would I do without him!!

So nice of you to infect the whole Primary! Just kidding, if you had known I know you would not have taken them. Make sure you don't have any before heading to school. And yes, I think it is very common. Every year we get at least one note home from school telling us to watch out for them because someone at school has it. And I've heard lice like clean hair, not dirty hair, so at least you know your girls hair was clean!

At least you didn't take out your camera in the middle of the meeting ;-)

I feel for you.....last year I itched my scalp for three weeks straight after there was a child "diagnosed" at school. Unfortunately, it isn't uncommon for children to get lice ;-(

OK I'll rephrase my comment. "I have two syllables for you..Yuck-y." Is that better? :)

Ahhhhhh!!! I would have freaked out too. Did you have to wash all the stuffed animals and carpet, couches, etc.? What a pain, sorry your girls had to go through that. I'm glad you have a sweet hubby to help with the situation.

Wow! I'm very impressed with Bill! To maybe make you feel better I remember that I had lice on 2 seperate occasions when I was in elem. school (I think once in 1st grade and again in 2nd.) All I remember is the horrible stuff to get rid of it - the smell was TERRIBLE! Anyway, good job Bill! It's gotta be great to have a very observant, and willing to help, hubby!
